1-51 rue Marcellin-Berthelot, Fleury-les-Aubrais, France

The Jules-Ferry school complex, built in the interwar period, reflects the hygienist theories influencing educational architecture in France. Initiated by the municipal council of Fleury-les-Aubrais in January 1928, the project responds to the doubling of the town's population over twenty years. It includes expansive play areas for children, alongside essential facilities such as a gymnasium, a cafeteria, and showers aimed at addressing the frequent sanitary deficiencies in residential housing. Strategically located away from the smoke of nearby railways, the site is also in proximity to the newly constructed town hall from 1928.
