Groupe scolaire Victor-Hugo – Les Remparts

Education · by Aubert André · 1952

5 rue Trouessard ; 6-10 rue d’Angleterre, Blois, France

In 1946, the municipal council of Blois commissioned architect André Aubert and his collaborator Alfred Pronier to design two schools within block B as part of the city's reconstruction program. The project was modified twice before receiving final approval in July 1951, with construction commencing the following year and completing in 1954. The construction of the kindergarten took place later, from 1958 to 1962. The Groupe scolaire Victor-Hugo – Les Remparts exemplifies mid-20th century educational architecture in France, responding to the needs of the community in the aftermath of World War II.
