housing in the PAU of Carabanchel

Collective housing · by Ruíz-Larrea & Associates · 2007

Spain

A PAU-era housing project that treats the block as a climate device: orientation, balcony depth, and façade rhythm are used to manage sun and privacy. Instead of a single monolithic slab, the composition breaks down into readable parts—entries, vertical circulation, and outdoor edges that encourage everyday ownership. The result aims for resilient, long-life housing that works with Madrid’s light and heat rather than fighting it.
