Government & Civic · by Joseph Berthier, Mas Chancel Édouard · 1941
2 rue Jean-Richepin, Perpignan, France
The building, constructed during World War II, aimed to consolidate the services of the Public Works Department. Initial plans were provided by J. Berthier, while E. Mas-Chancel focused on the elevation composition. Construction began in 1941 on state land along the left bank of the Têt River, near Avenue du Maréchal-Joffre, and was completed with its inauguration in July 1945. The main facade is prominent and features a grand entrance courtyard, centered around a striking tower topped with a colonnaded belvedere made of marble.
