Immeubles de la Bourse - Les Labourdette
Urban planning · by Boileau Robert, Jacques Henri-Labourdette · 1954
cours Belsunce ; square Bir-Hakeim, Marseille 1er Arrondissement, France
Following the expropriation of residents and the demolition of unsanitary housing in the Bourse district in 1911, various architects were consulted to construct 500 new residences. However, it was not until the 1950s that the project was revisited and revised by the Boileau and Labourdette agency at the request of Gaston Defferre, the mayor of Marseille. The modifications included the addition of an underground parking facility topped with a public square and the incorporation of a commercial gallery into the initial design.
