Jean Amado, born in Aix-en-Provence, dedicated his life to ceramics after being involved in the Resistance. In the early 1950s, he established a ceramic workshop in Marseille, focusing on technical research and producing monumental works often for architecture. His collaboration with architect Fernand Pouillon led to several commissioned decorative and fountain projects in Algeria and Marseille. In 1957, his experimental approach culminated in the invention of a unique material called "Cerastone," a patented blend of sand, porphyry, cement, and water, further enhancing his contributions to architectural endeavors.
