Lotissement du club du parc

Urban planning · by Albert Édouard · 1955

28-48 avenue Eglé, Maisons-Laffitte, France

In the context of the post-World War II housing crisis, marked by war damage, rural exodus, population growth, labor and material shortages, and issues of unsanitary living conditions, Edouard Albert contemplated the development of prefabricated houses from the late 1940s. His work is aligned with earlier discussions at the CIAM in 1930 regarding "minimum housing." In February 1947, he filed a patent for "the construction of lightweight houses, particularly prefabricated ones," and subsequently created a prototype while designing offices for the Fakler and Adam company in Montreuil between 1947 and 1948.
