Lycée Claude-Nicolas-Ledoux
Education · by Bernard Quirot, Pascal Blaise, Jousselin Stéphane, Lhoste Denis · 1991
Besançon, France
The Lycée Claude-Nicolas-Ledoux was established in response to the overcrowding of existing high schools in Besançon at the end of the 1980s. A regional competition led to the selection of a design by the Bernard Quirot agency, resulting in its completion in 1992. The building won the Prix de la Grande Romanée in 1994 and was the first constructed in the Temis district, a scientific park located northwest of the historic center. Initially referred to simply as the "fifth high school," it was later renamed in honor of architect Claude-Nicolas Ledoux, known for the Royal Saltworks at Arc-et-Senans.
