Government & Civic · by Marcel William, Edouard Cazaux, Jean Lesquibe, Pena de la José · 1935

avenue Amédée-Dufourg, Anglet, France

In 1935, Marcel William designed the new town hall as a central element that redefines the urban center of Anglet. The structure integrates an 1886 neo-Spanish building, blending Basque elements while emphasizing simplified forms. The layout centers around a patio, featuring a square tower with a clock at the northwest corner. The entrance, resembling a "lorio" typical of Basque houses, is framed by two semi-cylindrical volumes topped with an overhanging tile roof. To the northeast, arcades create a covered gallery that opens onto an esplanade, also designed by the architect.
