House · by Sainsaulieu Max, Louis Sainsaulieu, Jacques Simon · 1927
44 rue Ponsardin, Reims, France
The atelier and residence of master glassmaker Jacques Simon were constructed in two phases, in 1913 and 1927, by architects Max and Louis Sainsaulieu. This three-story building is situated between Ponsardin and Montoison streets. The rear facade is simply composed of yellow bricks, while the main facade on Ponsardin street features distinctive stone cladding and composition. It consists of two sections: the atelier on the right, which includes a basket-arched entrance and a prominent bow-window extending the full height, and the left section, which is recessed from the street and flanked by two square towers.
