37 quai Branly ; 206-218 rue de l’Université, Paris 7e Arrondissement, France
In 1995, President Jacques Chirac, alongside Minister of Culture Philippe Douste-Blazy and collector Jacques Kerchache, initiated the creation of a museum dedicated to the arts, practices, and civilizations of Africa, Asia, Oceania, and the Americas. This endeavor involved the consolidation of collections from the national museum of African and Oceanic Arts (MNAAO) located in the Palace of the Golden Door, as well as portions from the Museum of Man in the Chaillot Palace. Consequently, the Museum of Man was required to completely reorganize its scientific and curatorial activities and the display of its permanent collections.
