Notre-Dame-de-la-Paix
Religion · by Debré Antoine, René Serraz, Jacques Small · 1954
16 rue Paul-Bert, Arnouville-lès-Gonesse, France
In 1955, Father Michel Havard of Arnouville selected four young architects—Jacques Small, Antoine Debré, Jean Doldourian, and René Serraz—to design a new church to replace the chapel. Drawing inspiration from religious buildings seen during their travels in German-speaking Switzerland, they conceived Notre-Dame-de-la-Paix as a modern structure featuring a triangular floor plan. The church is constructed of reinforced concrete, with a prominent triangular glass facade sheltered by two overhanging eaves covered in wood paneling. This design reflects a contemporary approach to ecclesiastical architecture.
