Our Lady of the Ark of the Covenant Church
Religion · by AS.Architecture-Studio · 1998
France
The church translates liturgical gravity into a stripped, contemporary language rather than relying on historical religious forms. Light is treated as a primary building material, helping define the transition from the ordinary city outside to a more introspective interior atmosphere. The composition is sober, but the spatial sequence gives the sanctuary real ceremonial presence. It shows how a late-20th-century church can be unmistakably modern without losing symbolic weight.
