358 Route départementale ; route de Pierrelatte, Donzère;Garde-Adhémart (La), France
The Albert-Caquot cable-stayed bridge, designed by engineer Albert Caquot, spans the Rhône diversion canal along the Pierrelatte route in La Garde-Adhémar, linking Donzère to Viviers and Bourg-Saint-Andéol in Ardèche. As the first metal cable-stayed bridge, it represents a departure from traditional suspension bridge techniques. The design was necessitated by the low riverbanks, requiring the supporting structures to be positioned above the deck. Construction of the bridge commenced in 1950, and it was officially opened to traffic on July 22, 1952.
