5 porte de Bâle, Mulhouse, France
The Porte de Bâle, located in Mulhouse, France, was developed following extensive destruction during World War II, where 500 buildings were completely destroyed and 4,672 suffered severe damage. In response, temporary housing was provided by the Ministry of Reconstruction and Urbanism, alongside financial support to the public housing office. Mixed-economy companies were established to facilitate home ownership and prevent reliance on private developers. Annually, 2,800 new residential units were constructed. The current buildings in the Porte de Bâle area were designed as part of the urban restructuring led by the Ministry after the devastations of 1944.
