Tour de l’Europe
House · by François Spoerry, Bernard Michau · 1969
place de l'Europe, Mulhouse, France
The Place de l'Europe and the Tower of Europe occupy the site of the former Dentsche factory in Mulhouse, France. This area, which includes a levee along the Doller River, was historically significant as the location of a textile factory established by Schlumberger, Hofer et Cie in 1811, later expanded in 1823. The original building was demolished in 1908, with factory operations ceasing in 1934. By the 1950s, the site housed around forty commercial, artisanal, and industrial enterprises before the development of the new architectural project. The tower now serves as a prominent landmark in this urban space.
