3 boulevard Vauban, Valence, France
The Prefecture of Drôme, located at 3 Boulevard Vauban in Valence, was established in 1962 on the former military grounds of Chareton-Championnet, which were acquired by the General Council. Originally housed in a former barracks following the bombing of the previous convent in 1944, the new building was intended to consolidate various administrative services. However, within a few years, space became inadequate, leading to a competition in 1988 for an extension. The project was awarded to SORHA, led by architect Maurice Biny, with M. Traversier designated as the lead architect for the expansion.
