Station Madeleine de la ligne 14 du métropolitain (ligne Météor)
Infrastructure · by Vaysse Jean-Pierre, Bernard Kohn · 1998
place de la Madeleine, Paris 8e Arrondissement, France
The progressive congestion of Metro Line 1 and the central section of RER A in the 1980s prompted the French government to initiate a new metro line project in 1987 to improve passenger transport along the East-West axis of Paris. Named Météor, which stands for Métro Est-Ouest Rapide, this line aims to connect the western business district to the ZAC Paris-Rive-Gauche, where urban development centers around the new National Library of France. Initially, the line will link the developing 13th arrondissement to the Madeleine station, passing through Gare-de-Lyon and Châtelet stations.
