The Siège central de la Société générale, located at 27 Boulevard Haussmann, Paris, was designed by architect Jacques Hermant in 1869. The building features a monumental central pavilion with a triangular pediment adorned with allegorical sculptures representing the city, the river, and Mercury. The grand hall boasts a large central counter, known as "the cheese," beneath a vast glass dome. The floor is decorated with mosaics crafted by ceramicists Alphonse Gentil and François-Eugène Bourdet. The basement houses a strongroom with a steel door weighing 18 tonnes, providing secure storage for the bank's assets. The building was inaugurated on June 26, 1912, and remains the headquarters of the Société générale. (societegenerale.com)
