Synagogue Tiferet-Israël
Religion · by Fernand Boukobza · 1969
205 boulevard Sainte Marguerite, Marseille 9e Arrondissement, France
The initial discussions for the construction of the Tiferet-Israël synagogue began in 1967, following the abandonment of a plan to convert an old cinema. The site in the Sainte-Marguerite neighborhood was chosen due to the significant Jewish community established there after the return of French citizens from Algeria. In 1967, a decision was made to construct a relatively modest building on a plot of approximately one thousand square meters. The project includes two main components: the main worship area with associated facilities for gatherings and ceremonies, and a school for Hebrew language instruction.
