village des Sables, Torreilles, France
The historic village of Torreilles, primarily known for its winemaking, is situated inland, away from the coast. Following the initiatives of the Racine mission, development along the coastline commenced, with plans for a beach resort that included a village, a marina, a central square, and shops. However, this project remained unfinished. Ultimately, only residential units were constructed, resulting in the Village des Sables, which comprises 640 pavilions designed by the ADBL agency for developer Guy Merlin on a 33-hectare site.
