1 avenue du Canigou, Canet-en-Roussillon, France
Canet, officially designated a "seaside resort" in 1909, experienced significant growth with the coastal transformation in the 1960s under the Mission Racine, which led to the development of a marina, villas, and apartment buildings along the beach. Traditionally, the historic village is located inland, away from the sea. The influx of residents during the summer creates challenges for accommodating worshippers at Saint-Jacques Church in the historic center, necessitating the construction of a new place of worship in the newly developed coastal neighborhoods.
