VVF Belambra Club "Les Rives de Thau"
Culture · by André Gomis, Bernard Huidobro, Tloupas Philolaos · 1969
rue du Stade, Balaruc-les-Bains, France
As part of the Mission Racine initiated in 1963, the development of new tourist resorts along the coast complements the expansion of existing ones. Architect André Gomis was tasked with the design of the holiday village located on the Thau lagoon in Balaruc-les-Bains, which opened in 1967. Emphasizing Mediterranean architecture, Gomis features white walls, layered and interlocking volumes, and a blend of flat and vaulted roofs, reflecting the regional aesthetic. This approach contrasts with his earlier project in Guidel, which synthesized traditional Breton architecture. The design echoes elements seen in similar leisure units in the Mediterranean, such as in M'diq, Morocco.
