Club-house du Golf de Chantaco

Culture · by Walter Jean · 1927

487 route d'Ascain, Saint-Jean-de-Luz, France

In 1928, architect Jean Walter designed the Golf Clubhouse of Chantaco on the site of a former farm, commissioned by René du Thion de la Chaume, president of the Banque d'Indochine. The complex includes changing rooms, a restaurant, offices, workshops, and living quarters for staff and management. Entry to the golf club is through an arcade that connects two main buildings. The clubhouse features a monumental polygonal hall with a staircase, leading to an upper gallery that connects various rooms. In the adjacent building, the restaurant boasts large arched windows that open onto the golf course greens.
