les Trois-Epis ; chemin du Belvédère ; chemin du Rosaire, Ammerschwihr, France
The Notre-Dame des Trois-Épis sanctuary is located on a site associated with the apparition of the Virgin Mary in 1491. After being closed during the Revolution, the sanctuary was saved from destruction by a fundraising effort from 65 residents of Ammerschwihr. Various congregations have provided services to the sanctuary since its reopening. The Redemptorist missionaries established a presence in 1912, tasked by the archdiocese to revitalize the pilgrimage site. They had previously been active at Trois-Épis while expanding outside Italy and had acquired the Bischenberg convent. Since the early 20th century, the Redemptorists have gradually acquired the sanctuary grounds, except for the chapel, which remains under the ownership of the Ammerschwihr municipality.
