Église Saint-François des Fougères
Religion · by Pierre Dumas · 1967
rue des Flandres, Grand-Charmont, France
The design of a Catholic church for the new district of Grand-Charmont was commissioned to architect Pierre Dumas in 1967. The church, intended to facilitate parish activities, features a compact, rounded volume with auxiliary spaces incorporated into a semi-buried base aligned with the site's slope. Constructed entirely of concrete, the building is set back from the main junction of the neighborhood. Its distinctive prow shape is topped by a large wave-like roof composed of a concrete slab punctuated by nine skylights, which provide zenithal lighting to the nave.
