Groupe scolaire Line-Porcher, école de musique et salle des fêtes
Education · by Barrier Jean-Yves · 1991
34-36 avenue de la République ; rue Line Porcher ; rue Henri-Barbusse, Saint-Pierre-des-Corps, France
The municipality of Saint-Pierre-des-Corps experienced heterogeneous spatial development during the post-war boom, leading to a neglect of its historic center. The arrival of the TGV in 1990 prompted the local government to address this imbalance by launching a competition for a civic center. Architect Jean-Yves Barrier won the competition and executed the school extension in 1991, the media library in 1993 (designated ACR in 2019), and the multipurpose hall that includes the music school in 1996. Together, these structures form a coherent architectural ensemble organized around the historical town hall built in 1913 by architects Hardion and Labadie.
