Immeuble d’habitation, dit Les Horizons
House · by Georges Maillols · 1959
18-20 rue de Brest, Rennes, France
The residential building known as Les Horizons was designed by architect Georges Maillols and completed in 1970 as part of the urban renewal of the Rue de Brest area, now the Bourg-L'Evêque quarter. Towering 100 meters high, it features thirty stories above a significantly elevated ground floor supported by pilotis due to flooding risks. The structure consists of two adjoining towers with an oval concrete core, reinforced by an external framework of fourteen concrete columns and solid slab floors. The construction techniques enabled rapid progress, achieving one floor per week.
