Education · by Patrick Berger · 1988
43 boulevard de Chézy, Rennes, France
The École Régionale d'Architecture de Rennes was established on October 2, 1905, evolving from the Palais du Commerce to the Municipal School of Fine Arts. It became the École d'Architecture de Bretagne and moved to boulevard de Chézy in 1989. Until 1968, architectural education was part of the Beaux Arts in Paris, but a decree on December 6, 1968, led to the formation of 20 public architecture schools across France. In 1978, these schools transitioned from the Ministry of Culture to the Ministry of Equipment, and in 1984, the institution adopted the name "École d'Architecture de Bretagne."
