19 Rue Jean de La Fontaine, 75016 Paris, France
Immeubles Agar denotes a group of apartment buildings by Hector Guimard spanning 17–21 Rue Jean‑de‑La‑Fontaine, 8–10 Rue Agar, and 43 Rue Gros. The address at 19 Rue Jean‑de‑La‑Fontaine forms part of this ensemble, developed for the Société immobilière de la rue Moderne and completed in 1911. Guimard adopts a restrained, late Art Nouveau language with brick and stone façades, curved bays, standardized cast‑iron and carpentry elements, and carefully composed entrances. Several buildings on Rue Jean‑de‑La‑Fontaine originally featured glazed elevator shafts. The façades and roofs of the ensemble are protected as Monuments Historiques by decree of January 15, 1975, with the interior decor of the Café Antoine (at an entrance within the group) also protected.
