La Jansane

Collective housing · by Raf Listowski · 1997

France

A social-housing project that uses strong geometry to negotiate an urban plot while keeping apartments bright and practical. The building’s street presence is carefully composed to feel civic without becoming monumental. Repetition is used as an economy of means, but façade articulation avoids the anonymity often associated with large housing. Circulation and entrances are designed to be clear and safe, reinforcing a sense of address for residents. It demonstrates how housing quality can be driven by proportion, daylight strategy, and durable construction rather than stylistic excess.
