14 rue Madame-de-Sévigné, Charleville-Mézières, France
The Lycée Madame-de-Sévigné, originally built in 1886, suffered a devastating fire in 1967. In response, a partial reconstruction was commissioned to architect Jean Faugeron, who was prominent for his work on the French pavilion at the 1967 Montreal Expo. The project reflects a blend of historical significance and modern architectural innovation, exemplifying Faugeron's approach to preserving the essence of the original structure while addressing contemporary needs. The new design emphasizes functionality while maintaining a connection to the school's heritage, contributing to the educational landscape of Charleville-Mézières.
