rue d'Alembert, Bavilliers, France
For their architectural diploma, Marie-Laure Schneider and Serge Runsdatker focused on a Priority Utopian Zone at the edge of the Belfort Résidences ZUP. The jury, including Christian Proust and architect Christian Hunziker, viewed this endeavor as a bold response to the need for a new vocational school in the Belfort area. The project was entrusted to Swiss architect Lucien Kroll, who collaborated with Schneider and Runsdatker. The detailed preliminary design was submitted in November 1984, construction took place in 1985 and 1986, and the first enrollment of the experimental vocational and industrial high school occurred in September 1986.
