Mairie

Government & Civic · by Raymond Gleize, Edouard Hartané, Poussines Y. · 1969

rue Victor-Hugo, Gruissan, France

Gruissan, a coastal resort transformed during the 1960s, required new administrative infrastructure due to a growing permanent and seasonal population. The municipality decided to construct a new town hall and event space to replace inadequate older facilities. Architect Raymond Gleize, who served as the chief architect for Gruissan and was involved in the Mission Racine for the development of Languedoc-Roussillon's tourism, led the project from 1950 to 1975. This initiative reflects the town's evolution to accommodate its changing demographics and enhance its municipal services.
