Palais Paris France

House · by Montaut de Pierre, Gorska Adrienne, Joseph Lajarrige, Louis Poutu · 1950

9 boulevard de Strasbourg, Toulon, France

The former building of the Dames de France, constructed in 1912 by architect Lamazière, was among the many structures destroyed during the bombings of Toulon in the last war. The municipality, eager to fill the 2000 m² gap in the city center, expedited efforts with the landowner, Société Paris-France, as part of the Reconstruction project. In 1950, the Parisian firm of Pierre de Montaut and Adrienne Gorska collaborated with Marseille architects Joseph Lajarrige and Louis Poutu to design a mixed-use building that included a department store on the ground floor, along with offices and residences on the upper floors.
