Pavillon des Douanes

A rehabilitation of a former customs warehouse on Lyon’s riverfront, reintroduced as part of the Confluence redevelopment. The project retains the robust industrial volume and adapts it for new urban uses, including workspaces and cultural-facing activity. A renewed envelope and updated detailing give the building a contemporary identity while preserving its port character. The conversion demonstrates how heavy infrastructure can be repurposed as city-making material, supporting a new public realm along the water. It is a practical example of adaptive reuse where the existing structure remains legible and meaningful, not hidden.
