Salle de sport Caméo
Culture · by Manuel Breust, Chabrier Sandrine · 2008
23-25 rue Michelet ; 23 rue Charles-Gille, Tours, France
The Balzac high school, located in the city center of Tours, has long faced the challenge of lacking nearby sports facilities, forcing students to travel long distances. A suitable site for the new sports hall was identified following the relocation of the Pathé cinema from rue Michelet to rue Blaise-Pascal. Originally built in 1952 as Caméo, designed by Pierre Boille, the cinema closed in 1996 before being purchased by the mixed-economy real estate company of the city of Tours (SEMIVIT), which operates on behalf of the regional council of Centre.
