place Cassanyes ; boulevard Anatole-France, Perpignan, France
The Cassanyes square and Anatole France boulevard area serves as an urban hub at the beginning of the road leading to Canet. Initial development projects date back to the North Ramparts operation and are closely linked to it. The broad boulevard extending east from the plane tree promenade was planned to curve southwards towards the Citadel, necessitating the demolition of the half-moon and the Canet gate to create the large space for the future Cassanyes square and the necessary grounds for barracks. These major plans were revisited in the early 1930s, coinciding with the completion of the leveling of the bastioned enclosure south of the citadel in this area.
