rue de la Chapelle, Courcelles-lès-Montbéliard, France
In 1958, Abbé Kauffling, the parish priest of Sainte-Suzanne, acquired a plot of land and commissioned architect Jacques Mattern to design a chapel. Due to the parish's limited resources, parishioners contributed by building the access road and laying the foundations. They also sourced local stones for the base and central slab, reportedly taken from the nearby Gallo-Roman theater in Mandeure. The first stone was laid in 1959, and the chapel was consecrated in 1961, with the project benefiting from approximately 3,000 hours of volunteer labor from community members.
