Groupe scolaire des Terrasses
Education · by Bernard Jean, Francis Soler · 1983
6 rue des Roulants, Cergy, France
The site, covering 10,551 m², is located on a plateau before the slope descends southeast towards the Oise River loop. The architects design a functional area of 3,955 m² for the school, alongside an 825 m² recreational center situated to the west of the school. The school is intended to facilitate an educational approach that connects students with the outside world, reflecting a pedagogical dynamic. The flat roof design distinguishes it from the nearby neo-vernacular houses with pitched roofs, marking a clear architectural intention to innovate and adapt to contemporary educational needs.
