Maison de quartier Axe majeur-Horloge, ancien groupe scolaire La Lanterne
Education · by Jourda Hélène, Perraudin Gilles · 1983
2 avenue du jour, Cergy, France
A segment of the development constituting the core of the new Cergy-Puiseux neighborhood, later named Cergy Saint-Christophe, was entrusted to Ricardo Bofill's Taller de Arquitectura in the early 1980s. The project features a regulatory square framed by a semicircular building, marking the southern terminus of the neighborhood center and the initiation of a series of gardens descending toward the Oise River, part of the Axe Majeur envisioned by artist Dani Karavan. This monumental post-modern ensemble serves as a directional hub, with a pedestrian passage leading to the location of the proposed school situated directly behind the semicircle.
